Scripture for the Day – August 17, 2020
And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. (Matthew 12:15)
Did you know that we serve an awesome and mighty God!!! We serve a God that saves us, heals us, provides for us, talks to us, protects us, and much more. What other God does that?
I spent part of this last week looking at some old television footage of some great men and women of God like John Osteen and his wife Dodie, R. W. Shambach, A. A. Allen, and Oral Roberts. I want to share with you two of the testimonies that I had never heard before and I bet you haven’t heard them either.
John Osteen was sharing in one of his church services how he had spent time with Paul Yonggi Cho in South Korea. If you don’t know Paul Yonggi Cho, he is the pastor of the largest Christian church in the world with 800 thousand plus members.
Paul Youngi Cho was not always a Christian. He shared with Pastor John Osteen that years before he became a Christian, he was sick and on his death bed. In that area of Korea people have many God’s that they worship. Pastor Cho said he cried out to every God he could think of to answer him in his time of trouble. None of them answered. He finally became desperate and cried out to any God in the Universe that would answer him. A short time after Pastor Cho cried out to any God that existed something miraculous happened. A knock came at his door and as the door was opened an elderly Christian woman told Pastor Cho that the God of the Bible had told her to come to minister and pray for him. Pastor Cho accepted Jesus that night and was healed. That was the beginning of his ministry.
The second testimony I want to share with you is one by R. W. Shambach. He was asked one time by a young person what was the greatest miracle that he had ever personally witnessed? Shambach did not have to think about that long. He began to share a service that he was in with A. A. Allen years before. He said there was a lady that came to every one of their services with a young 4-year-old boy that was born with 26 debilitating diseases. He was blind and deaf, and his tongue was hanging out of his mouth. His arms and legs were deformed and bent crooked across his body. He had no feet, just nubs.
At the end of the next to last day of the services the mother came to Shambach and told him she was concerned that A. A. Allen had not prayed for her son. She told Shambach that she was just about out of money (she was from out of town) and only had 20 dollars left to her name. That next night, the last meeting night, Allen took up an offering and Shambach noticed that this mother had come forward with an offering and placed it in the bucket upfront. Shambach said he was nosy and went to see what she had placed in the offering bucket and it was a 20-dollar bill.
Later, Allen (not knowing any of these details), in the middle of the service, called the mom and the boy out of the audience. He took the boy in his arms and just held him. Shambach was right beside Allen and he saw everything that happened. The boy’s tongue snapped back in his mouth. Then bones started to crackling and his arms and legs were suddenly straightened. Then Shambach watched as God created feet for the boy. Shambach said he will never forget when the young boy was let down to walk for the first time in his life. The first word out his mouth was “mama” and he ran and jumped into his mother’s arms (remember he had never seen his mother before but he knew her).
The remaining service was a blowout. Twelve people got out of wheel-chairs and were healed. People that were on stretchers were healed. Everybody in the place was healed. Shambach said he had never seen that before or since. It was just a sovereign move of God. We serve a mighty God!!!!!
