And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
(John 8:32)
By Derek Dougherty of Future Now
What you think, wonder or speculate about is interesting. But you don’t rely on it. Alternatively, what you ‘know’, you trust (believe) in. What you trust (have faith in), you act on foundationally.
John 11:41 says, “So they took away the stone. Then, Jesus looked up and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I know that you always hear, but I said this that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out!’” We all know what happened then, when the Son of God asked in faith. What Jesus knew about the promises and character of God, he acted on. He knew these things about God from experience with His Father.
In Psalms 103:3-5, King David lists out some of the things he ‘knows’ about God: “He forgives all my sins and heals my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things…” I know….. (for me, I have a long list of things, i.e. I know He goes before me daily. I know He has delivered me from debt. I know He opens doors that cannot be shut. I know He has healed my…. (a good long list of things now). I know He has saved my soul. I know He sent the Holy Spirit to educate me, and He faithfully reveals the kingdom functioning to me. I know He has protected me (all the road miles, the evil people, the lawsuits, — lots of protection!). I know He provides the words when needed (in many ways). I know He has assigned me a territory for work and ministry and family – and it is good!, etc. (i.e. I absolutely KNOW)
What you know, you believe in. What you believe in, you act on. What you act on, you testify about so others may dare to see and believe. What do you ‘know’ about God and His Son? What will you act on today because of this? Knowing and going in faith.
