As a former federal law enforcement officer I had certain authority given to me to investigate and make arrests for certain federal laws. As an employee of most corporations you are given certain authority, which is usually defined by a job description. As a parent you have certain authority concerning your children. We have all been given some type of worldly authority and for the most part pretty well understand that authority. But most of the people we counsel with have very little understanding of the authority they have been given by God, which is the most powerful of all.
In Genesis 1:8 God gave man dominion (authority) and told man (male & female) to subdue the earth. In Luke 10:19 Jesus gave his disciples authority over Satan and all his cohorts. Acts 1:8 describes the awesome power (authority) that is given to those that receive the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 6:10-18 describes the armor of God (offensive and defensive) that has been provided to the believer. So why do we have so many people, and especially Christians, that seem to be so powerless and without any authority to overcome life’s battles?
The quick and simple answer is that most people have been deceived into believing that their problem is their wife, their husband, their boss, their mother-in-law, etc., etc. Their battle is always with flesh and blood, which is the very reason they are losing the fight. Ephesians 6:12 states, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places “. Some people spend their entire life battling the things they can see when they should be battling the things that they cannot see. You do have an enemy and his name is Satan and he is the father of lies and the person he lies to is you. He knows that you have authority over him if Jesus Christ is living inside you so what does he do? He convinces you and I that a flesh and blood human or a worldly circumstance is the problem and he will cause you to waste all your energy and attention on that person or circumstance rather than taking authority over the spirits that are trying to steal your marriage, steal your children, steal your money, and steal your peace.
Wake up !!! You are in a spiritual war and your weapons are not being used! You cannot win this war without firing a shot. This is a life and death battle and you need all your weapons, power, and authority to be active. “Ye are of God. little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4). You have more authority than you think! Fight in the Spirit for your marriage! Fight in the Spirit for your children! Take spiritual authority over the addictions that would steal your loved ones! Anoint every doorpost in your home with oil and command every unclean spirit and demonic force to leave your home in Jesus name! Memorize every scripture promise that relates to your particular situation and start praying that scripture! Get radical in the Spirit! Remember, your fight is not against flesh and blood. The fight has already been won on the cross! You just have to believe it and declare it!
