Scripture for the Day – July 7, 2020

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (1 John 2:27)

A filter is used in most cases to identify foreign matters and filter them out. Filters are used to purify whatever is being strained. When it comes to the Word of God, which you are hearing taught and preached, you must become the filter.

I have been virtually shut in for the last six months due to my health. However, the good part of this is that I have had much more time to study the Word and listen to various preachers and teachers. Some of that has been exceptionally good but some has not been so good. This is where you and I come into play. None of us can just blindly accept everything a preacher or teacher says. We must know the Word for ourselves. We must know the Word well enough that alarm bells go off in our spirit when things are not right.

Man-made doctrines are deadly! They can make the Word of God of no effect. The slick thing the enemy does is sneak in a doctrine or belief that may twist the Word only a small percentage. For example, a Pastor or preacher may be well known and well respected. He or she may have their own television program or a huge church, but they are still susceptible to false doctrines. It may be because they are just ignorant of the truth or they may be trying to stay within the boundaries of their own church or denomination. Listen to what the Apostle Paul said about this situation.

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. (1 Thessalonians 1:5)

For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. (1 Thessalonians 2:3-6)

The anointing, or specifically the lack thereof, is one of those alarm bells that should go off in your spirit. The pleasing of men and flattering words should also be an alarm bell. You should be able to recognize if something is wrong. When we moved to one of the several towns we have lived in, we visited numerous churches. When we walked out of one church, I told my wife that something was wrong with that preacher. I could tell it by how he was preaching. Several months later we learned that he had confessed to an affair and left that church. I hate all the hurt that was caused by that situation, but members of that church should have recognized the problem a long time before they did.

Wake up church! Get into the Word of God! Get close to God! Know His heart! Find a church that is not ashamed of the anointing of God. Understand that the last name of Jesus is not Christ. The word Christ means the anointed one. Paul said he came not only with the Word but with power and the Holy Ghost. That is the anointing. The Anti-Christ spirit is alive and well on Planet Earth (Psalms 2:1-3). He does not want you to experience the power and anointing. We are in a battle and you must be equipped with the power and anointing if you want to win this battle!!!
