Cast It, Don’t Carry It

Scripture Of The Day
“Cast your cares on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” — Psalm 55:22 (NIV)
By Cheryl Henderson
We often treat worry like a responsibility — something we must manage, analyze, and endure. But Psalm 55:22 gives us a radically different invitation: cast it. Don’t ease it down carefully. Do not store it for later. Throw it onto the strong shoulders of God.
David wrote these words while surrounded by betrayal, danger, and emotional pain. He didn’t deny the weight of his circumstances; he refused to carry them alone.
God does not promise that we will never feel pressure — He promises that we will never have to bear it without His sustaining grace.
Jesus echoed this same heart when He said,
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
And Peter reminds us,
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
Notice the pattern:
We release — God sustains.
We surrender — God stabilizes.
We trust — God upholds.
The world tells us strength is self-reliance. Scripture teaches that true strength is God-reliance.
When you cast your cares on the Lord, you are not admitting weakness — you are declaring faith.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.” — Psalm 28:7
