Scripture Of The Day

"Christ in you, the hope of glory" Colossians 1:27

By Cheryl Henderson

After an incredible Christmas program at my church today, I kept hearing the phrase, Jesus, the hope of the world. What does that mean to you? I began thinking about that, and a couple of scriptures came to mind. Our Scripture of the day, Colossians 1:27, Christ in you, the hope of glory, and 1 Peter 1:3, a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I have always known that Jesus is the reason for the season. I have always known that Christmas is Jesus’ Birthday. But Jesus, the hope of the world? Well, here is what I have discovered. We hope in Jesus because through him the world is aligned to God. So we come to Christmas with hope, faith, joy, and anticipation.

He came to rescue and restore. He came to call, draw, and love those who, without his grace, would continue to live for themselves. He came, and because he did, there is hope that sinners can be redeemed and the world can be renewed. It really is true: hope is a person, and his name is Jesus.

Today I am praying for you. I am praying that during these last few days before Christmas, you will see the hope this season brings as you make Jesus the center of your celebration.

I have included a link to the program I enjoyed today. I pray it blesses you as much as it did me.
