Scripture for the Day (June 17, 2016)

Proverbs 4:20-23 says, “My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”

Do you want to start making wise decisions? Do you want victory in your life? If so, you must immerse yourself in the Word of God until it becomes a part of you (kind of like a skin graft). How can you tell if the Word of God is really a part of you? The best indicator is when God’s Word becomes the first thing that you consider in every situation or circumstance. It is the first thing that you think about when making decisions.

You and I are like a super computers. Garbage in, garbage out. Truth in, truth out. But you have to put truth in before you will be able to access it. If you put God’s Word in, you will have something to call upon when you face challenges and tests.

Psalm 119:11 says, “Your word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”No matter what you are facing or going through, find out what the Word of God has to say about that situation. Find scriptures that pertain to your particular challenge and stand on those in prayer.

John 15:7 says,” If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you will, and it shall be done for you.”

Isaiah 55:11 says,” So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

So how do we get so immersed in the Word that it abides in us and becomes our guide? Proverbs 4:20-23 tells us how to develop this in our life. Attend to God’s words, incline your ear to His sayings, don’t let them depart from your eyes, and keep them in the midst of your heart. Then keep and guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flow all the issues of life.

Jesus was the Word made flesh (John 1:14). You and I are flesh to be made the Word.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
