Scripture Of The Day
“But we Christians have no veil over our faces; we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Him.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
Excerpts by Marilyn Greer
Remember going through the House of Mirrors at the carnival and seeing distorted images of yourself? It was all quite amusing. What’s not amusing is believing the distorted image satan puts in our minds; one that reflects an inferior, rejected, weak individual. God’s Word is our mirror and reveals our true identity and frees us from these lies and distortions. God wants us to see ourselves the way He sees us—righteous, healed, blessed, victorious, strong, and whole because of Christ in us.
Mirrors reflect reality. They show every blemish, wart, wrinkle, and gray hair—all the imperfections on the outside. When God looks at us, if we have a relationship with Jesus, He sees His Son’s perfection. He doesn’t see our flaws or imperfections. They are covered by the blood.
James 1:23-25 says that God’s Word is like a mirror, reflecting the reality of our hearts—forgetful hearer or effectual doer. A forgetful hearer is someone who sees themselves in God’s mirror but then goes away and does nothing about it. An effectual doer is someone who, after seeing God’s holiness and their sin, responds and repents. God’s mirror can actually change us—inside and out.
“But we Christians have no veil over our faces; we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Him.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
Mirror, mirror on the wall. Do others see Jesus in me at all?
