And Suddenly!

Scripture Of The Day

About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly, there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once, all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

Acts 16:25-26

I love the story of Paul & Silas and how they praised God at midnight. The Bible says that as they praised, the other prisoners heard them. And suddenly the power of God shook the ground, and the doors of the prison flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose! Our God is the God who brings you out! Are you in a prison of grief, financial trouble, addiction, do you need healing, or is your marriage a mess? We can learn from Paul to praise through the pain. I know that it is not easy to do when you are in pain. I guess this is where you decide, if you believe God’s Word or not? Romans 8:31 says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” God is never going to do things your way. His ways are higher and opposite to the world. This is where trust comes in. This is where you are either hot or cold. You don’t want to be lukewarm!

One of the things Paul and Silas did, they found power in the prison. Because they praised through the pain and loved the Lord more than their circumstances, they worshiped. And suddenly doors flew open and chains fell off. These two men were sold out to the Lord, and no matter what they went through, they trusted God!

I encourage you today to worship in the pain. God has a plan and a purpose, and there is always purpose in the process. Paul & Silas could have complained and despaired, but they didn’t. They worshipped. They gave a sacrifice of praise to the Lord. When it’s hard and painful and you choose to praise through it, God honors that praise. The Word says that He inhabits our praise. Trust Him no matter what. His love for you never fails.
