Hit The Ground Running

Scripture Of The Day

Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. 2 Kings 13:18

By Cheryl Henderson (Excerpts from Trent Cory)

As the prophet Elisha lay on his deathbed, King Joash of Israel came to him in despair. The nation was under constant threat from Syria, and the king feared the loss of Elisha meant the loss of God’s protection.

Elisha gave the king a prophetic test. He told him to take a bundle of arrows and "strike the ground.” This wasn't just a strange request; in that culture, shooting or striking arrows was a symbolic declaration of war and victory. Joash struck the ground three times and stopped.

Elisha’s reaction was immediate and angry. He told the king that because he only struck three times, he would only receive three victories. Hit the ground running means we must not stop striking the ground for victory. Victory in our families, victory for our health, our business, our community, and our country. Don’t stop striking the ground.

Keep going when you want to stop. Line your lifestyle up with God’s Word. We must live by the Book. Remember, you cannot conquer what you won’t confront. Don’t drag old junk into 2026. Cut the cord on anger, unforgiveness, pride, greed, and any other thing that so easily besets you.

Make 2026 your best year yet. Remember, you are not alone, and God has never lost a battle
