Lifted Up

Scripture Of The Day

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” — 1 Peter 5:6 (NIV)

By Cheryl Henderson

Humility isn’t weakness—it’s trust. Peter reminds us that when we place ourselves under God’s mighty hand, we’re choosing to believe that His timing is better than ours and His ways are higher than our own. To humble ourselves is to release the need to control outcomes, defend our worth, or rush the process.

God’s hand is mighty, but it is also gentle. The same hand that allows pressure and pruning is the hand that lifts, restores, and exalts at just the right moment. Due time doesn’t mean delay without purpose; it means preparation with intention. What feels like waiting is often God strengthening our roots so we can stand when the lifting comes.

If you feel unseen or low today, take heart. Stay surrendered. Stay faithful. The God who calls you to humility is the same God who promises elevation—right on time.
