Shifting Gears

Scripture Of The Day

Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. (Jeremiah 7:23-24)

I learned to drive a stick-shift in Driver’s Ed class. Oh, the shuddering and sputtering that occurred when I missed the timing while shifting gears. How wonderful it is to drive a vehicle with automatic transmission and not have to be concerned with timing and shifting.

However, the body of Christ needs to be aware of timing and shifting. With all the “wokeness” around us, it’s time for Christians, “who are asleep at the wheel,” to shift from the slumber of indifference and operating in cruise control, and get out of the useless state of neutral. WAKE UP—discover our purpose and order our priorities.

When we get a revelation of God’s destiny for our lives, and are desperate for Him, we can expect things to change. Jeremiah 7:23-24 – “Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.”

We are either living in Neutral – idle, not active or moving; Reverse—allowing things of the world to pull us away from the Lord; or Drive—going forward, making progress. Whatever is weakening our walk with the Lord, we need to hit the brakes and shift gears!
