Scripture Of The Day

“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men,[a] put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. Acts 2:22-24

By Cheryl Henderson

“Jesus of Nazareth…attested by God with mighty works and wonders and signs…you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, losing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.” (Acts 2:22–24, paraphrase)

Peter’s words remind us that the story of Jesus is grounded in God’s power — not merely human sentiment or clever argument. The same God who marked Jesus’ ministry with miracles and sealed his identity in resurrection also turned a violent, intended end into the greatest beginning. Death looked final, but could not contain the Author of life. This passage calls us to two convictions:

• Confidence: No force or failure ultimately frustrates God’s purposes. When situations look like endings — relationships broken, dreams derailed, ministries failing — God is still sovereign, working redemption through what seems irredeemable.

• Witness: The resurrection validates Jesus’ identity and mission. Our lives are meant to point others to that truth by trusting God in hardship and speaking of what we have seen and experienced of his power.

• When overwhelmed, rehearse God’s past faithfulness (personal and biblical). It steadies hope.

• Choose faith-filled obedience in small daily steps; God often advances his purposes through consistent, humble faith rather than spectacular moments.

• Share one testimony this week of how God has turned a hard season toward good.
