Treasures Of Darkness

Scripture Of The Day

And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.  (Isaiah 45:3) KJV

By Cheryl Henderson

A few years ago, I attended a Joyce Meyer Women's conference, and one of the things I came back with was Isaiah 45:3.

Joyce shared some of the darkest times of her life. She shared that her first marriage was a huge mistake and that her husband abandoned her many times, and finally, she said enough. A friend took her in and gave her a place to live. Joyce was pregnant at the time. The son born to her was named David. From the stage, she looked at that son, who runs Hand of Hope for JMM, and said to him, "You were my treasure in those dark times." Well, I just lost it!

Look, we all have dark times in our lives. Marriage issues, divorce, abortion, drugs, abandonment, abuse, and many other things I did not mention. Take heart, my friend. Your past does not define you: it has no future! You are valued, loved, and there is a plan and a purpose for you. I encourage you to look for the treasure in the dark places.

Even in the darkest, most difficult times of our lives, we can find blessings. Don't give up, don't quit, and keep trusting God. He will give you what it takes to get through whatever you have to deal with, and there will be treasure in that dark place you are walking through. What a Hope we have in Jesus!
