A Treasure In The Dark Place

Scripture Of The Day

And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.  (Isaiah 45:3) KJV

By Cheryl Henderson

I recently attended a Joyce Meyer women’s conference, and one verse that has stayed with me is Isaiah 45:3.

Joyce shared some of the darkest seasons of her life. She spoke candidly about a first marriage that was a huge mistake—one marked by abandonment until she finally said enough. A friend took her in and gave her a place to live while she was pregnant. The son born from that time was named David. From the stage, she looked at him—now leading Hand of Hope for JMM—and said, “You were my treasure in those dark times.” I lost it right then.

We all walk through dark seasons—marriage struggles, divorce, abortion, addiction, abandonment, abuse, and more. Take heart: your past does not define your future. You are valued and loved, and there is a plan and purpose for you. Look for the treasure hidden in the dark places.

Even in our hardest moments, blessings can be found. Don’t give up. Keep trusting God—He will give you what you need to get through, and you will discover treasure in the place you once feared. What a hope we have in Jesus!
