Be Hospitable

Scripture Of The Day
Be hospitable to one another without complaint. (1 Peter 4:9)
By Cheryl Henderson
You may not realize it, but hospitality matters deeply to the Lord. God calls His children to be kind, to love one another, and to serve even those outside our circle.
Growing up, our home was where everyone wanted to be — lively with music, laughter, and Mama’s generous table. Somehow she always had enough food for anyone who arrived at dinner. People left feeling welcomed, loved, and valued.
Today we hear the phrase “customer service” everywhere, but genuine service is increasingly rare. True customer service is simply treating others as if they were guests in your home. I’m old-fashioned about this: hospitality is hard work, but it’s essential in every area of life.
At its core, hospitality is a matter of the heart. Jesus didn’t come to be served but to serve, and He taught that whoever wants to be great must be a servant (Matthew 20:26). As Christians, we’re in the people business—God is in the people business—and He desires that none should perish.
Join me in prayer that God would give us hearts of hospitality, a renewed desire to serve, and a deeper love for others. May the Spirit stir up within us a hospitality that reflects Jesus, so others may see Him in us.
