Fruit Juice

Scripture Of The Day

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

By Cheryl Henderson

In my local church, we have been praying about our city. There is a lot of crime and poverty, and so many have not heard the Gospel.

A friend of mine told me about a dream her 9-year-old son had. In this dream, their house was on fire. They tried to put it out with water, but to no avail. Now this boy and his brother drink juice boxes all the time. They began to pour the fruit juice on the fire, and not only did it put out the fire, but they had more and more fruit.

As I thought about that, I began to think about our city being on fire, and what if the Christians in this town were so full of the fruit of the Spirit that our fruit juice would spill over this city and produce more fruit.

We cannot change a city by pointing out everything wrong. We change it by allowing the life of Christ within us to spill over into the lives of others. And as we pour out His love, we can believe God for more fruit!

Today, let's ask ourselves: Is my fruit juice spilling over? Are the people around me experiencing the love, joy, peace, and kindness of Jesus through my life?

Our city is on fire, but what if God wants to use the fruit of His Spirit in us to put out the flames of hatred, despair, and hopelessness—and produce a harvest of souls for His Kingdom?

So, how about it? Let's get so full of the fruit of the Spirit that our fruit juice begins to spill over everywhere we go. Who knows how much fruit we might see produced in our city!
