Scripture Of The Day
“The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” — Deuteronomy 33:27
By Cheryl Henderson
Have you ever watched a child jump into his father’s arms from the side of a swimming pool? I have seen it several times, and I am always amazed at the child’s lack of fear. It doesn’t matter how deep the water is. The child jumps with confidence, knowing his father will catch him.
Jesus said in Matthew 18:3 that we must become like little children. But what does that mean? Children learn by watching their parents, repeating their words, and trusting what they say. In the same way, our Heavenly Father wants us to listen to His Word, believe His promises, and trust Him completely.
When we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become part of God’s family. Romans 8:15 tells us that we have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.” We are not distant strangers to God; we are His children, and we can come to Him with confidence.
First John 5:14–15 reminds us that when we ask according to His will, He hears us. That is why it is so important to read and meditate on God’s Word and spend time with Him in prayer. We cannot speak His Word with confidence if we never take time to listen to Him.
Like that little boy standing beside the swimming pool, we must learn to trust our Father. We may not always know how deep the water is or what lies ahead, but we can know the One who holds us.
Whatever you are facing today, take the leap of faith. Trust His Word, believe His promises, and remember that underneath you are His everlasting arms. Your Heavenly Father is faithful, and you are safe in His care.
