Strength For The Waiting

“They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

If I'm honest, I used to struggle with today's verse. Waiting has never been one of my favorite things. I like answers now, doors to open now, and prayers to be answered now. But God doesn't work according to my timetable. He is not limited by time, and His timing is always perfect.
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength..." Waiting on God is not passive resignation; it is active trust. It is choosing to believe that even when we cannot see Him working, He is faithfully accomplishing His purposes.
So what do we do while we wait? We keep obeying. We walk in what we already know God has asked us to do. We spend time in His Word, press into His presence, and listen for His voice. As we do, He gives wisdom, clarity, and fresh strength for each new day. He has not forgotten you. He will never leave you, and He is faithfully working out His plan for your life.
Stephen is a beautiful example. Before he ever became known for preaching with boldness or performing miracles, he was simply serving. He was chosen to help distribute food to widows because he was "full of the Spirit and wisdom." Later, Acts 6:8 describes him as "a man full of God's grace and power," through whom God did great wonders and signs.
If you're in a season of waiting today, don't waste it. Keep trusting. Keep obeying. Keep serving. As you wait on the Lord, He will renew your strength, and you may discover that some of God's greatest blessings are found not just at the end of the waiting, but in the waiting itself.
