Scripture for the Day – September 26, 2019
Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
Luke 13:16 says, “Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”
Hebrews 2:14 says, “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—“
II Corinthians 4:4 says, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
All the above verses talk about Satan (the god of this world) killing, stealing, destroying, oppressing, and having the power of death. Satan deceived man into obeying him and thereby taking the dominion and authority on earth that God had given to man.
Psalm 116:15 says, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.”
In Luke 4:5-7 it says, “Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, ‘All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.’”
Jesus came to earth, resisted Satan’s temptations as the second or last Adam, and destroyed the works of the devil. A sinless man (Jesus) had to get back what a sinful man (Adam) lost.
I Corinthians 15:45 says, “So it is written: ‘The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.’”
I John 3:8 says, “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” That’s why Jesus said, “It is finished” in John 19:30. He then sat down at God’s right hand and gave us back the keys to the kingdom and said, “Unlock gates in my name,”
Matthew 16:18-19 says, “Upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
It’s time to start binding and loosing! It’s time to start using the authority Jesus gave us!!!
