In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge. (1 Peter 1:5 NLT)
I think that word scares some people. Many think that excellence means perfection. Not so. The word Excellent means, the quality of being outstanding or extremely good. It also means one who is has an outstanding feature or quality. It also means responsibility + industriousness.
Excellence is a quality that people really appreciate, because it’s so hard to find. 1 Corinthians 14:40 says “Let all things be done decently and in order.” The scripture says let ALL things! Not some things, not a few things, not a couple of things- ALL things! All things need to be done with excellence! Let’s never produce or do anything that doesn’t bring glory to God!
As Christians we should always be pursuing moral excellence. That is the quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong. That is easy to know. Just live by God’s Word. Live like you really believe in what you believe in.
