Scripture of The Day

“An Intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions.”   (Proverbs 17:24)

So many people want to be thin, but no one wants to diet.  Everybody wants more money, but nobody wants to work. Successful people form the habit of doing things that unsuccessful people don’t want to do.  The bookends of success are commitment and consistency!  Without commitment, you will never start.  Without consistency, you will never finish.   It seems that getting started is the hard part.  That is because we have so many reasons not to start. So to help out, here are a few suggestions:

  1.  Start with yourself.  Allow God and His Word to change your attitudes and actions to line up with His Word. Work on improving you and using the gifts God has put inside you.
  2. Start early. There is an old saying that Noah didn’t wait for his ship to come; he built one! Stop putting off the things you know you need to do.  My mother had an old saying. “It’s time to perform the doing of it!”  (2 Cor. 8:11) KJV
  3. Start small.   Just take one step at a time.  Isaiah 28:10 says, “Line upon line, precept upon precept….”  Think of Abraham, God told him to take his whole family and move.  He didn’t even know where he was going.  You’ll know as you go!
  4. Start now!  What are you waiting for?  Get going.  Don’t let the day come when you have waited so long that all you have is regret that you didn’t start now!
