Scripture of The Day

Jesus Spake a parable to them, that men always pray and not lose heart.  (Luke 18:1)

As I read the Word I find certain things repeated over and over again. Things like fear not, wait on the Lord, don’t lose heart, and so on. Why does God give us these messages over and over again? I think it is because it is so easy to get into fear, get impatient, and just lose heart and give up.  I had a friend say to me, “Why is everything so hard?”  My response was, ” The only thing easy is getting saved, everything else is hard!” Don’t you know that God knew what kind of world we would be in and He wants the best for us so that is why He keeps reminding us to not lose heart!

I have personally found this season of my life to be tough. However, my late husband would not want me to lose heart, give up, or get into fear. That’s why God’s Word is so precious to me right now.  In Luke 18:7 there is a story of a woman who went before a judge to settle a legal issue. He ignored her. The scripture calls this judge, a thick-skinned and godless man who had no fear of others’ opinion. Well, this lady kept coming before him pleading with the judge for justice. She kept it up for some time. Finally, the judge said, “This woman is annoying me. I am tired of listening to her. I will rule in her favor.”

“Don’t you know that God, the true judge, will grant justice to all of his chosen ones who cry out to him night and day? He will pour out His Spirit upon them. He will not delay to answer you and give you what you ask for. God will give justice to those who don’t give up. So be ever praying, ever expecting just like the widow was with the judge. “Yet when the Son of Man comes back, will he find this kind of persistent faithfulness in his people?”    (Luke 18:6-8)

My friend, don’t lose heart. God’s got a plan for us!
