Scripture of The Day

For which of you, wishing to build a farm building, does not first sit down and calculate the cost [to see] whether he has sufficient means to finish it? (Luke 14:28) AMPC

One of the things that the Lord said to me when Ed went to Heaven was, “Finish what you started.”  For the past 30 years Brig and Lita Hart, along with Ed and I , started New Life Network,  a ministry to the Marketplace.   It has been the most fulfilling thing I have ever done. Thousands have been born-again, thousands of marriages have been saved, healed, and are still together today.  We have counseled hundreds and hundreds, and prayed for hundreds and thousands.  But guess what? It is not over!  Ed and I had already been in ministry before we met Brig & Lita.  We knew what it was going to cost us.  We were, and I still am, willing to pay the price to keep moving forward.

I tell people all the time that serving the Lord is not convenient, going to church is not convenient, standing up for what you believe in will cost you some friends, some popularity and serving God will constantly keep you outside your comfort zone!

Jesus is calling people to follow him in discipleship, and then he’s reminding them that it’s like building a tower that you don’t want to leave half-finished because you don’t have enough commitment or enough resources to finish it. It’s like going to war and realizing you don’t have enough soldiers to win the battle and defeat the enemy.

In other words, you don’t need to know the specifics of the cost in your own particular case if the agreement you sign is “I’m yours at any cost.”

Be willing to pay the price, Jesus did.
