Scripture of The Day
Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my
servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. (Joshua 1:6-7) NIV
The dictionary describes courage as the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear. Our Scripture today is one of my favorites. I love the fact that Joshua took the mantle handed to him by Moses and stepped up to the plate to lead the children of Israel to the promise land.
In one of the translations I have read it says that, “you shall cause these people to inherit the land….” As I read it I asked a question to myself, Cheryl, have you caused anyone to inherit the land God has given them? I ask you, have you caused anyone to inherit the land God has for them? You do this by telling the world about Jesus, leading someone to the Lord, praying with someone, or just being a friend.
Don’t you know that by the Power of the Holy Spirit , you can be courageous and do whatever God has called you to. Here are some scriptures to encourage you to be courageous;
“Be strong and courageous and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you “……. (I Chronicles 28:20)
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deut. 31:6)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Today I encourage you to step out, stand up, speak up, and do what God is telling you to do.
If you feel afraid, then do what Joyce Meyer says to do, “Do it afraid!”
