Scripture of The Day

I will praise you O Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your marvelous works.  I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.  (Psalm 9:1)

It doesn’t take long after becoming a Christian to know that you have an enemy. The devil is out to harass and hinder you wherever he can. He comes as a roaring lion says 1 Peter 5:8. He doesn’t come wearing a red jumpsuit with a pitchfork. He comes at you with symptoms, thoughts, circumstances and situations; that’s his entire arsenal.

It seems that the devil likes to come at night and steal your peace with things like, fear and thoughts like, you have cancer, you are going to lose your job, you are going bankrupt, your spouse wants to leave and a whole bunch of others lies. He is just looking for someone to believe them. Don’t let that someone be you!

Here’s the good news. When we praise and worship, God comes! When God comes, trouble goes. In fact, the enemy is stopped in his tracks as we praise and worship.  When we worship God, negative thoughts have to go. They vanish into thin air because that is exactly what they are–a puff of smoke.

Next time the devil comes to steal your joy and peace, the next time he brings up a bunch of lies, just start praising and worshiping the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, and your savior. God inhabits the praises of His people.

When God comes, the devil has to go!
