( excerpts From Chris Musgrove)Scripture of The Day 3/15/2022
Luke 6:38: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye measure with it shall be measured to you again.
The New Living Translation: Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap ( one translation says pockets). The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
In this verse, Jesus is saying anytime you give it will be given back to you. And the amount you give determines the amount that comes back to you. Now this is not just talking about money. Jesus had just finished talking about loving your enemies and not judging others when he spoke verse 38.
The love you show to others will be shown back to you. If you won’t judge others you won’t be judged. I also like to add if you will cover others who have wronged you or someone else, you yourself will be covered. Covering means not to go and tell what you heard or even what you know or even saw. Protect people by keeping your mouth shut in regards to what they’ve done. In other words, protect and cover others (even your enemies), and you will reap protection and covering.
II Corinthians 10:9: Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.
God supplies seed to the sower, so my question to you is: What are you sowing? Whether it’s finances, love, prayer, food, or some material need, whatever you sow will come back to you!
I John 3:17: But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
When you see your brother in need, ask God what you can do, and the Holy Spirit will show you. This verse says, “Whoever has this world’s goods and shuts up his heart.” You might not have what he needs, but like Peter in Acts 3:6 when the lame man was asking for money Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
God is the one who supplies (Philippians 4:19) their need through His body (you and me). You can’t meet everybody’s needs, but the body of Christ has many members, so just do your part as the body. All you have to do is obey in faith and God does the work.
I’m sowing seeds of love, forgiveness, peace, joy, my time and my finances. I’m giving God something to multiply.
