Scripture of The Day
Whatever you do, whatever kind of work you are doing, work heartily, with all your heart and all the different ways that plays out in scripture, with Christ-like character, with honesty, with diligence, with integrity, with humility. So work heartily as for the Lord and not for men. (Colossians 3:23-24)
Perfectionism is not what God requires. I know so many people who want to always make the things they do…Perfect. Guess what? There was only one perfect and that was Jesus! Perfectionism is many times rooted in fear. Fear that you are not good enough and you are trying to prove you are. It is also rooted in pride. No one will do it as good as you. Perfectionism often leads to procrastination. If I can’t do it perfect I just won’t do it at all.
Excellence is what we are reaching for. NBA Coach Pat Riley says, “Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.” In other words, learning in the process. I encourage you today to throw perfectionism out the window and follow Colossians 3:23-24. ” Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord…..”
