Scripture of The Day

Their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night.  (Psalm 1:2) NRSV

In this busy world we live in, I find it hard sometimes to shut away with the Lord without interruptions. Maybe I am the only one.  Don’t get me wrong I talk to the Lord all day.  I pray all day as I go about my business. However, it is not the same.  I even built a little prayer place in my closet right after I saw the movie, “War Room.”   You see, I know that sweet time alone with the Lord is the key to intimate relationship with Him.  I know that it is the place where I not only talk to Him, but listen.  It is my sweet place of worship.

At times, Jesus went away by himself, to be alone (Matthew 14:23; Mark 6:46–47; John 6:15). “He went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God” (Luke 6:12). His disciples saw him leave to pray, and later return.

Why do you think Jesus went off alone to pray?  To put it simply, Jesus hungered for communion between himself and the Father. He wanted to pray to the Father who is “in secret” (Matt 6:6). Perhaps one way to critique our own time of prayer, therefore, is to question our motivation by means of the test of solitude

Today, I will press in to have more time with the Lord uninterrupted.  I hunger for communion with the Lord.  I pray you do too.  I encourage you to find a quite place to draw away from all the chaos and spend time with the Lord.  I know the more time with Him the stronger I become and He increases in me and I decrease.
