Scripture of The Day 4/26/2022

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last— ( John 15:16 )

Did you know that God chose you and appointed you to bear fruit and that your fruit should remain?  One of the ways we bear fruit is to witness.  To share the Gospel with others.  I read an article several years ago by Daniel Kolenda, one of the world’s greatest evangelist.  The article stated that 73 per cent of born again
Christians in this country believe that they have a personal responsibility to share their faith, only half ( 52 per cent ) actually did in the past year.  What do you think is to blame for this gap?  According to the article the answer boils down to fear.

Fear comes in many forms: fear of man, fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of rejection, and so on.  Fears like these imprison and silence too many Christians.  Below are 4 principles that can help you share your faith.

1.  Fear is a phantom.  Zig Ziglar used the  acronym when he famously defined the word fear as “false evidence appearing real.”  When it comes to sharing your faith, often you will discover that those you are worried about offending have actually been waiting (or even praying ) for someone to talk to them about matters of the soul.

2.  Trust that the Holy Spirit is working with you.

As much as you want to see people saved, Jesus wants it more. The Holy Spirit is highly invested in evangelism.  He cooperates with soul  winners because they do what is closer to God’s heart. Cultivate a deep conviction that when you share the Gospel, the Holy Spirit- God Himself – works  with you!  That will make you fearless.  After all, if God is for you, who can be against you.

3.  Love trumps fear.  Fear is an emotion everyone feels, but love is infinitely more powerful than fear.  Love compels us to take risks.  “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”

4.  Be prepared  Preparation puts confidence where there used to be fear and insecurity.  That’s why 1 Peter 3:15 says that we should be ready to give everyone an answer for the hope that we have. Spend time reading and studying the Word.

I pray that God puts someone in your path today for you to share the love of Jesus.
