Excerpts from “Beat Self Defeat” By John Mason
Scripture of The Day 5/24/2022

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)

I have just been reading my friend’s new book, Beat Self Defeat.  How enlightening!  I have always known how important our thoughts are and that we have authority to take charge of what we think. Because what we think has so much to do with everything.    There is a great example in the book that gives us insight as to how we can allow things to get way out of hand.  John was getting ready to go home from work when he noticed a bump on his leg.  His mind ran wild and as he keeps mulling over in his mind about this bump, he imagined it to be a lump, (of cancer), then he thought he might loose his leg!  He says that he went from a bump, to a lump, to a stump!!  It made me laugh, but the truth is we can go crazy if we do not keep our minds steadfast on Jesus and take authority over every thought and imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.

(2 Corinthians 10:5)

You have to know that the devil is a liar!  You really have to believe God’s Word and what He says about you.  Our run away thoughts can cause us to fear, regret anxiety, depression, indecision, and so much more.  The devil does not have to work too hard to defeat you, you are doing a good job yourself!  We seem to be  experts at self sabotage.

As the comedian, Bob Newhart says, “Stop It!”

Keep your mind on things above.  Count your blessings and remember how God has always brought you through and He will not leave you now!  Read Psalms and Proverbs.  They will give you great wisdom.  We serve a great Big God!
