Scripture of The Day 7/6/2022
Peter 3:8 “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
We’ve spent a generation being able to get what we want or need in the shortest amount of time possible. That ease is something we have grown used to, but it’s not all good. That expectation has produced a term called “microwave mentality,” which means that if something cannot be done in five minutes or less, it’s not worth doing.
I get so irritated when I have to stand in long lines or when I am put on hold on the phone for what seems to be hours just waiting to speak to a live person! God help me!!
God doesn’t always move as quickly as our convenience-soaked hearts expect, and it is up to us to start the process of reprogramming our hearts to move at the speed of God. God’s idea of the race He’s set in front of us may not be at the pace we want, but it is set at the exact pace we need.
Let’s look at Stephen. He was chosen with 6 others to serve in the distribution of food, looking after the widows and other such daily duties. In essence, he was a waiter. He spent his time serving the people God put before him. The Bible says that Stephen was a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 6:1-7)
Remember what Jesus said about being the greatest? Matthew 20:27 says…”whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant.”
I guess what I am trying to say is, “don’t get in a hurry.” Wait on the Lord. While you are waiting don’t just sit there and do nothing. Wait on others, serve others. Serving others is the Father’s heart. God will do miracles in your midst!
