Scripture for the Day – March 27, 2020
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. (John 14:27-28)
As you read what Jesus said to His disciples (and us) in John 14 I want you to realize what was about to transpire. Jesus was about to go to be beaten and hung on a cross and crucified. He knew He was about to suffer an agonizing and brutal death and He was not guilty for any of the charges against Him. He was the truth and the way, and He was
just doing what His Father told Him to do by speaking the truth and healing all that were oppressed of the enemy (Satan).
I want all of us to think about that situation. How could Jesus have peace, and give us His peace, knowing what was about to transpire. The scripture tells us how He had that peace.
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto
blood, striving against sin. (Hebrews 12:2-4)
That is one of my favorite scriptures when I am going through tough times. Most people think we are going through tough times because of the spread of the virus we are experiencing. Many people are in fear and have lost their peace. My question to you is this. What is your peace based on? Is it based on a stabilized world system? Well good luck with that because this world is never going to be stable.
Your peace has to be based on the promises in the Word of God!!!
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:17)
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. (Romans 15:13)
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. (1 Corinthians 14:33)
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 1:3)
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. (Colossians 3:15)
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. (2 Peter 1:2)
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:9)
Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. (2 Peter 1:3)
