Scripture Of The Day

“Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.” — Luke 24:45 (NLT)

By Cheryl Henderson,

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples—men who had walked with Him, listened to His teachings, and witnessed His miracles. Yet even they struggled to fully understand God’s plan. In Luke 24:45, we see a powerful moment: Jesus Himself opened their minds.

This reminds us that spiritual understanding is not gained by effort alone. We can read the Bible, attend church, and hear sermons, yet still miss the deeper meaning if we rely only on our own insight. True revelation comes when we invite Jesus to be our Teacher and the Holy Spirit to guide us.

When Jesus opens our minds, Scripture becomes alive. Promises gain new meaning. Instructions become clearer. Our confusion turns into confidence. What once felt distant suddenly feels personal and powerful.

Sometimes we wonder why we don’t understand God’s direction or His timing. Like the disciples, we may be sincere but still uncertain. In those moments, our prayer should be simple: “Lord, open my mind and heart to Your truth.” He delights in answering that prayer.

As we spend time in God’s Word today, let us approach it with humility and expectation. May we not just read the Scriptures, but receive them. When Christ opens our minds, He also strengthens our faith, renews our hope, and prepares us to walk boldly in His purpose.
