Scripture Of The Day

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful.

Joshua 1:8

By Cheryl Henderson

I have always loved the stories about Joshua. He was one of the spies who came back with a good report. He believed with God all things were possible. I loved the story about Jericho and how the walls of the city came falling down.

Our scripture for the day is a favorite of mine because it gives a pattern of how you and I can be successful. God wants us to be successful. He created us to prosper. Here are three things that can help us to move forward in all that we set our hands to do.

1. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth... In other words, speak the Word. What are you speaking?

2. You shall read and meditate on it (God's Word) day and night. What are you thinking about?

3. Be careful to do what is written in it. What are you doing?

Corinthians 9:8 says that God will generously provide all you need. Proverbs 10:22 says that the blessing of the Lord makes a person rich and he adds no sorrow to it.

“The Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalms 84:11).

Speak it, think it, and do it, then you will make your way prosperous.
