Scripture Of The Day

“Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.” — 2 Corinthians 8:11

By Cheryl Henderson

Our Scripture for today is one of my favorites. When I was a little girl and didn’t want to do something, my mother would say, “Young lady, it’s time to perform the doing of it!” I had no idea those words came directly from the Bible!

I believe God places dreams, visions, and desires in our hearts. It’s that thing that stirs something deep within you and gives you a desire to make a difference. But a dream requires more than a desire. It requires action.

Not everyone will understand or share your excitement. Joseph’s brothers hated him because of his dreams, but their jealousy did not cancel God’s plan.

Your dream may not be something big or famous. It may simply be helping someone, serving in your church, or doing something God has placed in your heart. Whatever it is, don’t underestimate its value.

God gives you grace, talents, and abilities to accomplish what He has called you to do. You may not have everything you need today, but you can begin with what you have.

James 2:26 reminds us that faith without works is dead. Faith believes, but faith also moves.

What has God placed in your heart to do? Pray, trust Him, and take that next step. Don’t wait until you feel completely ready.

As my mother would say, “Young lady, it’s time to perform the doing of it!”
