I have talked with so many people lately who are hurt, wounded, and dealing with rejection. It breaks my heart. We live in a broken world, and sometimes people hurt us deeply. It's so sad that so many people don’t know the loving, caring, compassionate, and powerful God I know.
Maybe you are walking through a season of hurt or disappointment yourself. Isaiah 61:7 gives us a beautiful promise: “Instead of your former shame you will have a double portion.” God sees every hurt, every disappointment, and every injustice we have experienced.
The word recompense means a reward or repayment for what has been suffered. Joyce Meyer has compared it to workers’ compensation. When someone is injured at work, they receive compensation for the loss. In much the same way, when we continue to serve God, do what is right, and refuse to become bitter when others hurt us, God promises to take care of us. Joyce calls it “double for your trouble.”
No matter what you have lost, what you have been through, or who has hurt you, God will restore. He can take what was meant for our harm and turn it into something beautiful. As we trust Him, He promises that we will “eat in plenty and be satisfied.”
Your story isn’t over. Your loss isn’t the end. God is still writing your story—and He knows how to restore what has been broken.
