Managing Your Time

Scripture Of The Day

Teach us to number our days...that we may gain wisdom ( Psalm 90:12) NIV

By Cheryl Henderson

Time management has always been a challenge for me, but I have discovered that there are practical answers and biblical principles that can help us make the most of our time.

Your priorities determine how you spend your time. It is up to each of us to prayerfully establish those priorities and faithfully maintain them. I have learned that wisdom often consists of eliminating the non-essential. You may be able to do many things, but you cannot do everything. At some point, you have to choose.

Excellence comes from doing the right things well and letting the rest go. If you're unsure what the "right things" are, ask yourself this question: What would matter most if I only had six months to live? The answer will quickly bring clarity to your priorities.

Every day, countless things compete for your attention. No matter what comes along to steal your focus, stay committed to your God-given purpose.

By concentrating on the most important priorities in your life, you will often see the greatest results from your efforts. Begin each morning with this declaration:

"Today, I will prioritize my life according to God's will and invest my energy in the things that help me fulfill His purpose for me."

Your greatest possession is the next 24 hours. How will you spend them? If you do not decide how your day will be used, you can be sure that someone or something else will decide for you.
